My tea recipe is really quite simple. It is a very nice method to make wonderful tea every time. Some parts are very important to get exactly right, but there is some room for approximation. I shared this with my section today at SOS and was encouraged to share it here as well. Here goes!

Ingredients & Supplies

  • One (1) big ole’ pot (But not the super biggen)
  • One (1) One (1) gallon pitcher (I like Tupperware)
  • One (1) nice big spoon
  • One (1) big ole’ tea bag (Should say it makes a gallon)
  • 1.5 Cup Granulated Sugar (Beet sugar is fine. No need for the fancy cane stuff)
  • Enough water to fill up the big ole’ pot
  • Enough ice to fill the gallon pitcher about two-thirds (2/3) of the way full (The best ice comes from the ice machine in the basement—It’s nice and crunchy)

Note that both things of water should add up to one (1) gallon total. This recipe makes one (1) gallon of tea. I would recommend that you measure the water to fill up the big ole’ pot straight in your big ole’ pot. I would recommend the same for your ice.

Here are the steps!

  1. Gather all of the necessary ingredients and supplies, listed above.
  2. Begin with heating the water until it is boiling. For best results, use the lid that goes with your big ole’ pot on top of your pot.
  3. Once the water is boiling, add the tea bag. The tea must steep for at least thirty (30) minutes. The longer amount of time that you are willing to let it steep, the better. I also recommend allowing it to steep with the lid on to keep the hot temperature. This will help when adding sugar.
  4. After the tea has been allowed to steep, add one and a half (1.5) cups of sugar. I recommend stirring this with your nice big spoon.
  5. After all of the sugar has been dissolved, prepare your ice in your one (1) gallon pitcher.
  6. When ready, add the contents of your big ole’ pot to the pitcher. Stir until all of the ice is melted.

And, there you have it! This recipe is always bound to make perfect tea every single time. Once you have tried the recipe a couple of times, I encourage you to try to prepare ahead. Usually I can prepare the ice in the gallon pitcher while the tea is steeping.

Please post any comments about you trying this recipe or any suggestions you might have after trying it for yourself!
